In September 2024, the NUANCE Center at Northwestern University became the first Electron Microscopy (EM) laboratory to connect to DECTRIS CLOUD. This step reflected NUANCE’s forward-looking vision, embracing cutting-edge technologies early on to shape how science will be conducted in the future.

"What's really useful is that users can access the experiment data simultaneously from a central platform" - Dr. Roberto dos Reis

"Connecting our electron microscopes to DECTRIS CLOUD has been great,  it streams our data to the cloud and gives our users access to scalable, high-performance computing power. What's really useful is that users can access the experiment data simultaneously from a central platform, which has definitely enabled our data workflow and lowered the barrier for complex analysis." said Dr. Roberto dos Reis."Our team at NUANCE is very happy with the support provided by the DECTRIS CLOUD team. Their assistance goes beyond troubleshooting; they act as a partner for new ideas and help us remove barriers that might slow down our pace."

The collaboration between NUANCE facilities at Northwestern University and DECTRIS CLOUD marks a significant advancement in electron microscopy data processing. After almost one year of operation, the workflow for near real-time processing of large 4D-STEM experimental datasets that counts on DECTRIS CLOUD has already been brought to conferences by Dr. dos Reis, and has been received with excitement by the microscopy community.

Stay tuned for more updates and insights from this exciting collaboration.
